Boot electric connector: central locking chirps & bounces

Post by goltho »

After stripping out the boot carpet & underlay today on my 2005 206CC, I discovered a multiplug near to the boot central catch which was disconnected from its feed. The boot has never worked with the central locking. I connected it and now when locking with the fob, there's a chirp followed by the doors unlocking again. Disconnect the plug again and the doors lock. I've searched the forum but can find nothing specific to this.

It's acting like a fault. Is it?

Thanks.

Its the boot open/alarm latch switch. With it disconnected the lock should still work ok but the plastic actuator usually wears out because its under considerable spring tension so you get false boot open alarms on the dash information screen and the alarm going off at random.

It will also make the central locking beep if you try to lock it and it thinks the boot is open.

I just leave it disconnected on mine.

By the way the boot lock only locks on the cc you have to open it with the key, this is on purpose so if someone breaks into the car they cannot get into the boot for valuables

Thanks for that. So the choice now is to replace the switch & have the boot lock with the fob (but not unlock) and risk future alarm issues, or leave as-is and manually unlock the boot. That's clear

:love-thx:

The boot will still lock regardless of that plugged in or not and you will always have to manually open it too.

Ive had mine unplugged about 12 month never had any problems.
