Automatic gear fault
I have a o3 Peugeot 206 cc and it starts and drives ok but the minute I break and go to drive off again it won't accerate and displays automatic gear fault, I then have to switch the engine off and start it again in order to move it. Please what could this be?

I have the same issue! Whenever the error pops up, my gear seems to be stuck at the 4th gear! Acceleration is terrible and I'm not getting used to car honks on each traffic light.

Re: Automatic gear fault
I'm afraid you both have problems that can only be diagnosed with Peugeot Planet 2000. It sounds like electronic faults, possibly caused by sensors or defective transmission ECU.
I suggest you take the car to an auto transmission specialist (not a Peugeot dealer - who will probably want to fit an exchange gearbox) who states he is familiar with the AL4 gearbox and has Planet.

Re: Automatic gear fault
It dumps you into limp mode at the slightest fault. You don't know that you are in limp mode until you try to drive off with lousy acceleration. This can be avoided. When you have braked and come to a standstill, shift the stick to neutral and back into drive. If you are in limp mode, there will be noticeable jolt, in which case:- into park, ignition off and restart. The traffic lights will have changed and you will be able to accelerate away. Don't you just love the modern technology?

Re: Automatic gear fault
Just tried a fix and so far it worked, drove over 60KM with no faults.
All I did was drive on "Snow"/"Slow" mode, this prevented the car from having any sudden gear switches.
