If its multiplexed (after mid 2002) you will have to remove the steering wheel anyway as the coloumn goes through the centre of it.

Is mid 2002 correct? My daughter's hatchback is registered Nov 2001 and it is multiplexed. Or are cc's different?

Your daughter should have the earlier (non comm2000) switchgear with the thinner stalks.
Cheers Col.

Well, the DAM No is 9121 which gives a build date of 29/10/2001. It was built at Ryton (Code 83). Date of warranty commencement 14/11/2001. The Service Box Electrical characteristics state "MULTIPLEXING ASSEMBLY" and the stalks look to be the same thickness as on my 2005 206cc.

Interestingly, the handbook which applies to the car is stated as being 1/4/02 to 30/9/02 on http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/. The handbook which came with the car was for an different version - shows one-button key, wrong radio, different stalks and the AT selector with a 1st gear position, so clearly for a different model.

I'm wondering whether some of those "April 02" cars were actually built and sold earlier than that date.

I have now found several references (eg http://www.206info.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic/t=1675.html) asserting that 206s were multiplexed from October 2001, which ties up with my daughter's and Gazza82's. The same article (well worth a read) also gives a build code commencement of 9064 which is 2 September 2001, but they may not have hit the showrooms until October?
