Petrol gauge didn't move?

Post by hussnainh8 »

Hi,

I am so confused right now so please someone shed some light on this :( .. I always top up £5-£10 as I do not drive much and the petrol gauge is always moving up a lot when I refill the petrol.. The problem I had today is that I tried to waste as much as petrol as I could so that the second the yellow light comes on notifying me to refill, I will refill and then calculate how many miles I get per gallon. So I was on my way to McDonald and the yellow light came on.. I then drove straight to the petrol station.. ( This journey from McDonald to petrol station was around 1.5 miles) I topped up £5 as I knew it was a gallon.. I started the car again and the petrol gauge needle didn't even move a tiny bit? the yellow light also stayed on? I thought okay wth is going on!? So I went to another petrol station and spent another £5 on petrol and still the needle hasn't moved up the slightest and neither the yellow light went of.. I am so confused now as my fuel gauge reads as if I have barely any petrol left yet I know I have £10's of petrol left in the car.. Someone also to mention is that when the ignition is on .. I hear 3 beeps and they go off again.. turn the engine on and they do not come again.. Turn the ignition of and on again they would come again.. I am so confused! :( Usually when I fill the tank up with £5's worth of petrol or even £10's worth of petrol the needle would go up at least 2 notches but today not even the slightest :( Really worried :/

Thanks.

Sometimes it will take a few journeys for it to register the fuel in it being so little.

Also its not wise running so low on fuel as thats where all the crap in the tank will be and can be sucked into the fuel system.
