Everything going wrong all at once

Post by tenpole »

Had enough of the 206cc now and the way everything goes wrong on it. I never had anything like this on my fiesta. First the clutch starts slipping three weeks ago. Then the tracking gets thrown out again and there is a whining noise when steering. Then the fan for the heater stops working and finally either the front o/s bearing has gone or the calliper has come loose and there was alot of grinding noise just before I got home. Its now been parked up for three days till I get a chance to look at it.

Luckily the L200 has been running sweet.

Then the fan for the heater stops working and finally either the front o/s bearing has gone or the calliper has come loose and there was alot of grinding noise just before I got home.Cause of tracking problem too??? Took the wheel off and was not as bad as I thought

Image

The bar that goes from the roll bar to suspension strut had come away and rolled into the wheel. It got bent up, there was some scoring on the alloy but other than that nothing damaged. Except the bar which will need replacing. Is this a peugeot only part does anyone know?

Roll-bar droplink? Longish bar with two ball joints.

Available from a number of sources ... Avoid fleabay ... Had one last two weeks!! Cheaper rubber ball joint covers.

GSF, EuroCarParts/carpart4less, or local motor factors would be my first visit.

I had new front tyres put on and the tracking redone, I am not a fan of these centre-less alloys. It took ages for the plate to be mounted to the spindle and the boys at Just Tyres Strood could not get the balance spot on. I would like to change the alloys to a peugeot wheel with a centre cap

Getting the clutch done today. There are so many times ot would be great to have your own workshop so you can just do the jobs yourself.
I got the standard call about other problems with the car. The flywheel has heat spots and can be skimmed for an extra £58. The driveshaft seals are worn £32. There is a major leak on the gearbox.
I told them just to change the clutch.

The salesman ruined it for himself when he asked me if I knew what a flywheel was. I thought here we go.
The flywheel had excessive wear and heat damage- advised a reskim
Clutch fork had uneven wear- still seems to work fine for me
Driveshaft seals leaking-
Gearbox was very oily - this could have been steering fluid as I have a leak
Cat is leaking
Joint rubbers split
Lower arm bushes worn
Front disks worn

Of course I declined all. This is a 13 year old car. Every fault it gets is a tossup between scrapping or fixing.
