Newbie in Dover Kent

Post by minibee »

Hi everyone, thanks for letting me join

I recently bought a silver 206cc 1.6 2002 and she was called Polly by her previous owner, the name seems to have stuck!! I managed to get her from a work colleague reduced from £1250.00 to £850.00 and she has even let me pay for her monthly as money was very tight.

I haven't had too many problems with her to be honest, just the constant beeping from the dodgy boot sensor and I have had to unplug the brake fluid sensor as that was constantly saying it was empty even though it wasn't! But all in all she is a great little run around with no scratches or dents :)

My next list of jobs is a full service and replace her brakes all round, so if anyone is in the Dover area and knows of any reliable non rip off mechanics I would be really grateful for a nod in the right direction.

Thanks :)

Hi , I was going to suggest doing them yourself but then again they are not the best pads to learn to change.
Are you sure they need changing?

Hi Tenpole

Yeh they definitely need doing, they are starting to grind, so the old man is going to change them for me this weekend. Its a pain but we really can't afford garage rates and he did my friends 206 not long ago so hopefully he will know what to do lol :)

Have you looked to see if the pad has worn? These peugeots can make a grinding noise even when the pads are fine.

my other half has and he said to change them, according to my friend who I bought the car from they probably need changing soon as she hasn't done them since she bought the car 3 years ago :/

There is a guide on here. Somewhere. You need to wind the pistons back rather than just push them.

Only the rear calipers. The front ones just push in.

It's a good idea to renew the brake fluid completely too if it hasn't been done during the last 3 years.
