Help please new buyer
Hi guys my partner recently bought me a 2002,2ltr, manual 206cc, this weekend it come up first catalyst converter failure then anti pollution warning, and when the car was cold it was running as if it had a misfire, we let it warm up to 70 degrees on the display and both warnings went off the misfire stopped and it drove perfect. Any ideas please?

Use only decent fuel - Shell V-Power Nitro+ or BP Ultimate - and not cheap stuff.
Make sure its been serviced properly and within the last year or 10k miles.
Try to get the engine warmed up properly and avoid short runs. Otherwise unburnt hydrocarbons will be detected by the lambda sensors and switch on the warnings. A misfire will cause this too. There can be other issues with the 2 litre engine too but deal with the basics first.
On another matter, I hope the timing belt has been renewed. Should be done at least every 10 years on the 1.6 petrol, and at least every 8 years on the 2.0 litre. The tensioner pulleys and water pump should have been renewed at the same time (best practice).

You said your partner is a mechanic? Get him to scan for fault codes and post them here if he is not sure about them
Cheers Col.
