Replacement bonnet

Post by Nojustice »

Hi all,

I am a proud owner of a silver 04 206cc however the paint has come off the bonnet, can you just get a replacement one from the scrappers with the same colour code and they will look exactly the same?

Only reason I'm asking is because I asked a body shop to respray and they said the wings would have to be done too

There is a chance but likely to be slim. Go to any paint mixing company and ask for the colour swatch for your car and you'll be shown several... the colour changes over time as well as there often being more than one from Peugeot to start!

The wing respray are to blend in the new paint on the bonnet.

What's probably coming off is the clear-coat top layer

paint changes over time so any respray will be blended into other panels so yes wings will be blown in also ,if you get the paint code for a s/h bonnet it may match yours it may not personally I would have the respray it will be much better ,have a look at any work they have done to make sure your getting a good job I all ways guarantee my work they should too when you get it done pop on some pics :)

Isn't just the lacquer coming off its completely come off its brown underneath

So it's pointless from the scrappers then?

If I have to pay for a spray I may as well get the car completely done at pro dip your car local to me

Not advertising :), gallery does look cool though

Nothing wrong with 2nd hand bonnet, but best drive your car there and compare bonnet shade to existing shade of your car. Some colours can have 4 or more variants (shades) Not sure how Peugeots are with variances though.
Cheers Col.

Yes. Slight shade (variation) so could look darker or lighter.
Cheers Col.

Have you got a paint mixing company near you? They will have colour matching tags for each colour and shade so you can get the best match.

Metallic paint is hardest to match as the sprayer's style also plays a part (as does the equipment used), which is why they blend it into the surrounding panels.
