Hi guys,
Just wondering if the gearbox on the 206 cc 2.0 is the same as the gearbox on the 206 gti 2.0?
I've been offered a gearbox from a cc for my gti, I've got the 138bhp model.
Just checking it's the same before I buy it.
Thanks for your help!
Jon.

Depends on year. Hyd & cable are not interchangeable.

Re: Quick gearbox question
Thanks for the help.
I'll have to find another 1.
My gearbox crunches into 3rd. I've seen guides of taking them apart.
Anyone tried fixing a gearbox before?

Re: Quick gearbox question
I've been told on another forum.
The gti and cc use the same BE4 gearboxes both have linkage rods not cables.
And that both run hydraulic clutch setups. All RHD use hydraulic regardless of year.
Whose right? I'm quite confused now...

Pretty sure our '01 2.0 has a cable clutch ... but I haven't got car here and it's a while since I was under the bonnet.

Re: Quick gearbox question
'01 cable, '02 hydraulic The linkage rods refer to gearchange not clutch operation.

Yes me. I've done one or two. Sounds like you have a worn 3rd/4th synchro. Might be worth trying an oil change first. Use GL5 fully synthetic 75/90W oil.Anyone tried fixing a gearbox before?

Re: Quick gearbox question
That's a very interesting thread!
Actually seen and read it a few times already.
I'd love to give fixing mine a go after reading that.
I had the cambelt done a few days ago at the garage so I asked him to change the gearbox oil at the same time. It hasn't seemed to help at all though.
Where could I find spare parts for the gearbox if I can find out whats broke? Peugeot?

Re: Quick gearbox question
Hi again.
Just had a thought.
If i do get a gearbox which is the wrong type. ( hydraulic or cable)
Could I just swap the internals over?
Would all the gears inside be interchangeable?

Re: Quick gearbox question
It's possible, but there were some other minor differances such as speedo drive. If you are going to that trouble it would be easier to fix original problem (unless you know how to set the pre-loads etc: when swapping internals)
Cheers Col.

Re: Quick gearbox question
Don't know a lot about gearboxes to be honest.
Just trying to find the cheapest fix.
I asked peugeot for a price on 3rd/4th synchro ring and they said...
"3rd/4th Gear syncro ring/s are only available as part of the 3/4th Gear syncro £212.64 2-3 days delivery"
Which I wasn't expecting!
Easiest and cheapest thing for me is finding a suitable 2nd hand gearbox but can't find one at the mo.
The car is still drivable, just annoying. So no rush really.
