206CC 1.6 51 PLATE
I changed my battery left it of the car for 2 days. With the new battery on it now show all lights everything works but when i turn the fob-less key to start it the batt light on dash goes dim all other lights on dash stay lit I dont posses a keyfob just a key. Before i changed battery it turned over without problems. Can i reset immobilizer with just a key? I am a mechanic but this one has stumped me
Thank You!

Immobiliser won't stop it turning over ... just stops it firing ...
You did get 1 190mm high battery? 175mm are too short and fit hatchbacks. CC need taller battery.
Otherwise I've look at the battery connections and earth leads, etc.

OK I rocked the car in gear and it unstuck the starter. Took out the plugs and they was no spark. So it is the immobilizer after all. Is there a fuse or relay which will stop spark and can I reset immob with just a key without the fob? Its the coorect key synced to the. Car?

So the engine is now spinning over?CHAMPERS wrote:Took out the plugs and they was no spark.
So how did you check for a spark? With the coilpack set-up how did you earth the plugs?
btw I've disconnected batteries for a couple of weeks and never had an issue with the immobiliser ..
You're going to need to connect car to a diagnostic now I think.

Re: imob reset with no keyfob just key?
When you reconnected the battery did you follow the proper procedure?
The only software I know of is PP2000 (which you can download via links on peugeotforums.com after registering) BUT that only works with the Lexia-3 cables ... not ELM or ODB-II, etc.
I also have a Peugeot specific Sealey code reader and even that struggles with our 2001 CC ...
You might get it to read on a standard code reader but the chances are the results are misleading ... don't forget Peugeot hid a lot in their BSI system ...
So the key you have is a Peugeot key but has a solid body and no buttons, correct? The immobiliser chip is moulded into that afaik. I don't think Peugeot even supply new button keys for that age of car now so that isn't an option. (And is an expensive one at that!)
If you hold the body of the key against the ignition lock (don't insert it in the lock!) and open the door, does the car bleep? If it does, does the bleeping stop if you take the key away? That would suggest the car and key are mapped.

Re: imob reset with no keyfob just key?
Im afraid i didnt follow procedure no. I have 5 cars and never need to do that so didnt realize
Yes i have a key made but not gen pug but it worked fine with transponder inside. it beeps when key left in ill try to do it without inserting later. Im about to sell car and have ppl wanting to view but its impossible atm with this problemo Lol. Are there no fuses or relays which could stop the spark? can i rest bsi with just key no fob?
The proper procedure involves the fob?

Battery procedure here ... http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 23&t=13473
(To be honest I haven't needed to do this either ... but it might be worth trying!)
But if the key is causing the car to bleep I think the car and key are mapped so I'm not convinced it is an immobiliser issue.
And if you haven't got one ... 206CC Handbook is here http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/downloads/handbook.pdf
Should show you all the fuses ...

Think you are getting confused with reprogramming remote unlock.
Sounds like you may have screwed the BSI if you didn't allow it to go to sleep before disconnecting battery.
You need to get it on diagnostic and see if you can acess the imobiliser menu.

Re: imob reset with no keyfob just key?
Are many cars like this that you need to have a protocol for changing the battery? On my L200 I just unclamped the old one and stuck in the new one. To be honest without prior warning from this forum I would have just done the same on my 206cc if it needed it.

Re: imob reset with no keyfob just key?
Everytime I've changed the battery on my 206's I've tried this .. but it has never responded the way it says in the procedure and hasn't hurt ... every other car, as you say, connect up earth last and try not to make any sparks!
It would be a total PITA if you lost the connection to the immobiliser everytime ... not everyone has access to diagnostics and would probably even stump Halfords (they are easily stumped I must admit!). So any DIY work involving the battery would end up having to go to a garage ...
It might be the safest way ...
