Heater/blower & other odd electrical? Stuff

Post by Wibwoo »

Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have a 51 plate 206 cc, which is the 2 litre model. Have had the car for almost 3 years now & love it for the most part. From when I bought it the engine management light used to go on & off. At last mot it came on during mot so was deemed a fail but after them plugging it into the machine they could find no fault so passed it. The blowers had a mind of their own, the temp can be turned up & down but they would come on & as they pleased. Now they have gone off all together, it's freezing & I have to keep clearing the screen with paper. The airbag light again used to come on & off but that's now stopped. Recently when I turn the stereo on I get high pitched beeps, however the cd will play in the background. I have had quite a bit of mechanical work done on the car but am at a loss with these other things, don't know if it's time to cut my losses and say goodbye but though I would try here incase anyone can provide me with any info on what to try next, thank you

The electrical plug on the heater motor tends to melt and cause intermittent operation. The other things may be caused by a failing battery (Read this forum for the many posts on the matter)

Hi, thanks for reply it's had a brand new battery a few months back. Is the plug easy to find/change or is it a garage job?

You can find the motor up under the pasanger side dash above the centre console. There is one screw that secures it, remove it then the motor will twist and pull out. The plug can be seen without removing the motor.
