hi im new and looking for advice

Post by 7millzo7 »

Hi all hope everyones well! I have a question I hope someone can help me with ive had a 206cc for about 4 months now and up untill a month ago it was great then I started to have electrical issues! One day I went to open up the car with the key fob and nothing happened so I opened it manually and alarm went off and would not start at all so I disconnected battery and took fuse out that quietens alarm untill alarm eventually stopped. After 12 hours of battery being disconnected I reconnected in the morning and opened the drivers side door, alarm went off but stopped once I turned on ignition and car started.
I then went on to find that when car was sat in direct sunlight for a few hours off it would not start so had to leave battery dosconnected over night again unless someone let me jump start it off their battery. After weeks of this I decided to get a new battery which worked okay for a couple days untill same problems reaccured up untill a week ago where normally I would leavd battery disconnected over night and reconnect in the morning but nothing happened and would not jump off another vehicle!! Please help as this is driving me up the wall!!!

I presume it's pre plex, or you would have screwed the BSI by now?
It sounds like the problem may be with the alarm ultra sonic detectors. Have you tried locking manually to see what happens?

You didn't give any detail about the car other than it's a 206CC so I made a few assumptions (that is what the red bit at the bottom of all my posts is about)
preplex and plex refers to the earlier or later models as the electronics are very different.
See the post at the top of the electrical thread regarding disconnecting the battery.

You can also disable the detectors using the button on the dash.

But it does sound like your keys have lost connection with the BSI unit

Its a 51 plate 1.6 automatic... mileage is approx 78000
How do you disable the detectors and if the key has lost connection with the bsi unit then what would need to be done?

Ive taken the old bsi unit out...if I get a secondhand one from the breakers I take it the key from the doner vehicle would also be required?
Do you think this will solve the problem?

You disable the detectors by pressing the button for a few secs. Alarm light will stay on IIRC.

Check the owners handbook as ours is a Y reg 2.0 and some of the controls may be slightly different.

You can download a copy of the handbook from here ...

Changing the BSI should be the last resort as it has to be EXACTLY the same as the old one. You will also need the key / transponder units and ECU.
Be better to send old unit to BBA reman or similar and get them to repair it

You will have to refit the unit to car and tow it to Peugeot dealer to re code the BSI unit.
Costs around £175 -£200 at my dealer.
It can only be done by a Peugeot dealer as it is downloaded directly from the PSA database.
Cheers Col.

Yes. Might have some curved lines on it ..

You press this until the alarm light comes on in the centre by the MFD. Then lock the car and deadlock/set alarm as usual. I think it's to alarm the car with the roof down but why you would want to do that beats me ... :?
