Driver windows problem

Post by woodsy »

206cc 2007 1.6l. Got in the car, started, and the drivers side windows came down and wouldn't go up. I have purchased a replacement switch from ebay. Fitted and windows came up but then won't go back down. Checked fuses and fuse 12 has blown. I can keep going round this circle. The switch model that I removed is 11857 7 pin. However I noticed the plug only has 6 pins. I am completely confused and at a loss of where to go now.
The passenger windows are fine.
In summary windows go down and won't come up. Change switch windows come up,and at that point seem to blow the fuse. Drivers side windows and wing mirrors don't work. Can anyone help/advise. Thanks

Assuming (new??) switch is identical to old unit (has it got auto up?), check for damaged cable in the conduit between the door and "A" pillar.
Cheers Col.

There doesn't appear to be any damage to the cable. I have some further info.
Drivers side windows go down when the switch is being pressed down or up.
When they go down they will not come up.
Using a different switch, the fuse blows and the windows come back up.

Any suggestions really welcomed.

It sounds like you are using the wrong, or faulty switch. Is it new (I did ask before)
If 2nd hand how do you know it's correct for car and also not faulty? (my reason for asking if it's new)
Cheers Col.

Really appreciate the reply. I bought a second hand guaranteed switch. It is the same model number as the original. With this switch fitted the passenger window is fine. The drivers window comes down, won't go up, fuse is OK.
I had a different switch which I can then fit, fuse blows and the windows come up automatically. Thanks for helping.

Window eventually fixed. Two problems, the switch and damaged wiring through to the door ... Suggested age related ... 2007 model.
