HI all
This is the 1st time i have used a forum so please take it easy on me lol
Im trying to get some help on my pug 206 verve which is a 1.4 on a 55 plate
A bit of back ground
At the back end of the winter i had starting problems it would always start but would take a long time maybe 30 seconds or so but it did start!
As the weather warmed up the problem went away now what its getting cold it back !!!
I was thinking glow plugs or battery as they have never been changed any how i booked it into a local garage i know who has had it a day and are totally stumped !!
What they have said is there is no power getting to the glow plugs!
They have tested the glow plugs and there fine.
They have tested the wire to the glow plugs and said there fine i think they said the resistance is fine
They mentioned there was power going to the relay but they couldn't get the relay to trigger and there was 2 other wires going into the relay which they assumed were to control it but as there not a Peugeot specialist this is kind of how far they got...
He was going to put a new relay in but he seems to think its something controlling the relay and didn't want to put one in if it wasn't needed (i thought there would be a way of checking the relay ??
I'm hoping someone on here can shed some light on what to try or any advice ?
If i can then pass this details on it should speed things up and save me some money lol
Any help is much appreciated and go gentle as i know nothing about cars lol
Thanks
Ian

If you can get it hooked up to Planet Peugeot 2000 you can check the fault codes. As it's a 55 plate an EOBD diagnostics might work but Pugs can be funny.
The 1.4 hdi is odd in that the glow plug light rarely lights up ... So don't worry about that. I had to change my relay recently but the car was starting ok. Just kept causing the engine management light to come on.

Hi cheers
Yeah think it's less than 3c I'm told before it comes on
So if that's the case the relay won't kick in will it as it's not that warm ?
How much is the relay

Even when it's zero or just below, I've never seen the glowplug circuit light!
£50-60 from dealer. I'd have to dig out my receipts. You might find a good second hand one though. The 1.4 hdi is same in Citroens and Fords too.

Have they put it on a code reader??? If not you and they are just jumping to conclusions and wasting time, and probably money eventually.
