Hi All, first post and new to 206cc, so please bear with me,
I have a cc 2.0 se, and when I corner, there is a whirring noise coming from the wheels, I thought it could mean I need new discs and pads, car has just had a mot pass with no advisories, any help would be appreciated.
Also does anyone know of a great mech in the Cannock, tamworth areas?
Thanks in advance,
Jo

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
Hi Jo and welcome.
When you sat "the wheels", I take it you don't mean all of them? If it is from the front, it is possibly a wheel bearing. Is noise left / right or both? Is it worse when turned one way rather than the other?

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
I had a noise that I first thought was coming from the front wheels and had recently changed pads & disc so knew it wasn't that. When it was at the garage I had a good look underneath and found that the power steering pressure switch was leaking ever so slightly. Changed it, topped up fluid and the noise went away. Apparently it's a common thing?
Oddly I only noticed it when reverse bay parking.
Here is a site showing it : http://puggy206.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/ ... ssure.html
Might be worth getting that checked out as it's a quick check.

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
It could be drivers side front wheel bearing. Sant has suggested pressure switch which is a good call, but I would expect you to notice low fluid level which would cause the shuttle valve in the steering rack to groan / whine as the airated fluid forces through it.

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
Hi again, just one last question,
I had a spare key fob when I purchased the car, but battery flat on fob, can I just Change the battery, or would it need to be re-coded?
If I can just change the battery which one should I get?
Jo

Take the old battery to halfords or a watch repair shop and they can match it up.
Cheers Col.

It shouldn't need recoding. If it doesn't work after the new battery has been put in (don't lose the microchip while you've got the casing open) follow the instructions in your owners manual. Battery type CR2016.
Page 69 of owners handbook.
Switch off ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Press button A (the larger button).
Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the ignition lock.
The remote control should now be working again.

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
Hi all, had the exhaust and cat changed, but the rasp I had before is still there, have been told it could be the manifold, is this correct?

Rasp? You said it was a whirring noise when cornering. Is this something else?

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
Yes something else, found whirring noise was to do with the tyre, and supposedly the nsf cv boot was held on by a cable tie, just had that replaced. Just had exhaust and cat replaced but the rasping still happening when accelerating.

Re: Whirring noise from wheel when cornering
Could be the manifold or the new exhaust parts. Some new systems aren't as good as the originals and generate more noise due to the build.

Old one might not have been original either!
