Hi All,
Recently had a check on my 206CC and a few things have been noted:
Coolant leak where pipe meets radiator
Rear engine mount
Aux belt slipping off (hasn't caused any problems yet since it was replaced six months ago)
Main dealer have costed this at about £500, but I also have RAC Warranty but finding it difficult to find a garage that will actually invoice the warranty company rather than me and have me claim it back off the warranty company.
Any ideas the most cost effective way of dealing with this, or know any helpful garages in/near Reading?
Thanks

Re: Warranty Fixing
They are probably reluctant as they know every warranty company tries to wheedle out of paying up .. wear & tear is the usual excuse, not maintaining the car properly another ...
most people I've read about that have tried to claim doesn't think that they are worth the paper they are printed on!
Hope you can prove us wrong!

Re: Warranty Fixing
I had the gearbox replaced a few months ago (although that didn't fix the issue) under warranty so seem alright so far. I have a feeling the engine mount and gearbox are related some how because I hadn't noticed the vibrations until they replaced it - sadly I've moved so can't get back to the same garage.
I have found a place now, so we'll see. I've only had the car myself since January so hopefully that counts for something.
Also anyone any idea of the costs for any of these repairs at an independent?
Peugeot quoted:
Engine mount - £326.76
Coolant Leak - £88.28
Aux Belt - £114.00

Re: Warranty Fixing
Aux belt takes about 20 mins on a 206!
Belt is cheap too .... so that's way over unless they plan to change the tensioner as well
Engine mount seems a lot but it doesn't say which one an they cam be a pain to get to.

Re: Warranty Fixing
I think that included diagnostic work for the belt - because it's on but seems to be coming off so they weren't sure if it needed to just be pushed back on or diagnosed for a mechanical fault, etc. - it was fitted in Jan and I've not had any issues with it so far either way.
It's the lower rear engine mount.

Re: Warranty Fixing
So none of the stuff was covered by the warranty company - but it's always worth a try.
In case anyone is interested, independent has quoted:
Lower rear engine/gearbox mount - £165.06
Radiator bottom hose - £59.59
Auxillary belt - £55.62
Total - £280.27
Half the price of what Peugeot were looking for, so a nice saving anyway.
