Well after 2 months of ownership my 206cc died. I was at a roundabout and getting ready to move off and heard a crunch. the car stalled. Couldn't restart it.
Pushed to the side of the road and called the breakdown. Got towed to my mechanic who confirmed cam belt had snapped - He said not worth repairing. I will need a new engine, and ECU, and then to strip everything from the old engine and put on recon engine.
Can anyone help? Is it worth repairing. does anyone know where I can get the parts I need. Its a 51 plate cayman green 165k on the clock.
What pisses me off is that I have just refurbished the wheels and also installed a double din stereo.

If you've got the facilities and a spare afternoon, lift the head and see if the experts are right. I had a belt fail once (caused by water pump bearing failure) - couldn't find anyone willing to take the job on - regardless of cost. They basically admitted that their labour skills weren't up to the job and that it would be cheaper to buy another car. So, I thought, I'm curious to see the damage - how many bent valves or holes in pistons. Yes, there were a couple of small dinks on number 1 piston, but the valves were all true. So new belt, gasket - and water pump. Weekend - job done. Car went on for another 30k before I gave it away to a friend in need. My belief is that the hydraulic tappets cushioned the forces - maybe?

Shame about the timing belt. Gazza tried to warn you and you did say it was being done at the same time as the axle.
You could try as Luditus suggests..... you could be lucky, but it is an interference engine so be prepared for the worst.

Luditus. Valve damage depends on engine. The Peugeot will bend valves.

Engine swap doesn't need a new ECU if you put the same one in ... remember the 206GTi also has the 138hp engine so if you can find a write-off ... 
You might get away with just a new head but it is possible that the big-end bearing shells have taken a whack and they may now be flattened which means they are unlikely to last long if you don't rebuild it fully. And before anyone asks, I have an Alfa 156 where this happened. And that has now done 195K miles!!
And 51-reg on 165K ... miles??? ... that car has been seriously "ragged" ...
... our 2001 Y reg only has 85K miles ...

I've decided not to fix the car. a polish guy has offered to buy the car for £250
I have put it back to standard but I will be listing a number of things in the for sale section. so have a look and see if anything interests you.
I am not looking at 2 totally different cars. One is a 1.6 SE golf and the other is a Ford Focus ST170

When I had the double din fitted the top buttons were relocated above the ashtray. The mfd was going to be relocated to the original slot were the stereo was.
I did have a pioneer sph-da02 which only worked with the iPhone 4/4s and iPod touch and that had satnav and Bluetooth. But when is upgraded to the 5s it wasn't compatible
