We'll tomorrow my 206cc goes in for its refurb axle and drop links.
Fingers crossed it will fix the road handling and all the clanging and rumbling from the back.
Will let you know how it goes.

Hi and welcome. Hope all goes well with your car today and will be running perfect shortly. There's a badgeless grill on ebay at the mo think it's at £15 (141339904593).
Will need spraying though.

Re: 206cc goes in for refurb axle
well the guy doing the work is still doing git and said its bloody hard work. he also said its a good thing the hammer is under the car otherwise he would have used it to he me with it.
Her said it would take him a day to do the work but when I saw him he said it maybe a bit longer. Also now need to get new hub bearings as the ones on the car are passed it. Had to buy them from motor factors cost ing £48 each side, when I could have bought them on eBay for £17 per side
Still this is what happens when you buy a cheap car.
Thanks for the eBay auction. I ready have those grilles to go under the bonnet. I'm looking to remove the lion on the front of the car
Update: Also been told ABS senders will not come off car so new ones of this ordered.. Will need new shocks at some point but the ones on the car are ok for now..

Re: 206cc goes in for refurb axle
Hi all
Axle has been replaced, so no more clanging when driving.
Drop links have been replaced.
This has cost £200. I also had to get the bearings in the rear hubs replaced and abs sensors.
Tomorrow getting battery so hopefully airbag light will stop being shown as when I drove the car home after being repaired the light was off.
Only thing left to do is get new wheels refurbished and put on the car and get the headlights adjusted...

Make sure you get the correct battery. The one for the 206cc is taller than the one for the hatchback. Fit the wrong one and you'll have problems.

And you'd be paying out another £17 a side in a few months and wishing you'd spent the money ... at least at a motor factors you get a years guarantee on the parts. With fleabay, you'll be lucky to find the seller is still around!Namrood wrote:Had to buy them from motor factors cost ing £48 each side, when I could have bought them on eBay for £17 per side.
Not necessarily ... a cheap badly maintained car, yes.Namrood wrote:Still this is what happens when you buy a cheap car.

Re: 206cc goes in for refurb axle
This is the battery in the car at the moment. Chances are it's the original battery.

Here is the battery which the other half's father got today for £50. He was a teacher at one of the local schools and the manager of the motor factors was one of his pupils.

When I've measured the new battery it is 19cm high. The old one is just slightly taller maybe 19.5cm.
Also been told to go to a local auto-electrician and get the airbag connectors under the seats removed and soldered together. Is this a good idea or not?

Our airbag warning light went out and stayed out after I replaced our failing battery with a new one.
19cm is correct.
