206cc poor performance

Post by Tonystime »

I've had the car for about 4 years and the engine runs fine and is very smooth, however the performance has always been quite poor and seams quite sluggish when you try and acceleràte hard.

I wonder if there is something I can check or do to get some performance into the car. With over 100 bhp I would have thought it would be quite lively.

I'd start with trying to get tge codes checked (PP2000).. It could be many things. 1.6 or 2.0? Manual or automatic?

If nanual, does it feel/sound like the clutch is slipping? If you are in gear and hit the accelerator does the car pull gently or do the revs race up and you maintain the same speed.

When was the air filter changed? They can get wet and this will slow down the airflow to the engine.

Hi

It's a 1.6 petrol. The clutch is fine with no slipping, it just seems that the engine had no go. I will check the air filter though as you suggest.
