Hi people
I am now a proud owner of nimrod finally took to long
As you all might of guessed tyres all need changing my brother has a brand new set off his escort van that are 205/55/16 i was just wondering if anyone know if they fit mine. Mine are 205/45 16 be very grateful for any adivce thanks in advance grant
They'll fit, but they'll look 'orrible and will muck up your speedo readings (and probably your handling too).
Being a larger outside diameter they could even rub on places that they shouldn't normally come near.
Personally, I wouldn't.

Mine: Daily driver; Mk2 MG ZS+ (TD). Current projects; 2 x Lotus Elan SE Turbos
Previous project: 56 plate 206 CC 1.6 Sport (with added Allure!)
The first number (205) is the width of the tyre in millimetres
The second is the tyre wall height as a % of the Width
The third is the rim size (in inches)
so here a 205/55R16 would be a 10% more tyre wall than the stock 205/45R16
That equates to an extra 41mm total diameter, or a 6.9% increase in overall diameter.
This means your speedo will be around 6.9% too slow.

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.
Add to Karrots list "C" for commercial, which may be on the van tyres, and also the load index and speed rating.
So 205/45 ZR16 87W
equates to 205 tread width 45% aspect ratio.
ZR16 Z=tyres are suitable for speeds higher than 240km/h R= radial/ 16" rim
87= load index (tyre suitable for up to 545kg weight)
W speed rated to 270km/h

Using tyres less than the spec recommended by the manufacturer may void your insurance.
