206CC NON STARTER

Hi hopefully someone can help me.Got the mrs a 52 plate cc a couple of months ago everything was fine until I borrowed it to go see my mate ,stopped the car went to re-start and all I got was immobiliser fault flash up on dash and would,nt start got out tried to lock and unlock no joy ,rang rac bloke came to me and checked fuses and plugged in diagnostic ,diagnostic came up as would not let ecu communicate with it .A few weeks earlier the mrs said when she started it the central locking would lock her in and the dials on the dash would flutter also she noticed it once came up with eco-mode ,I have noticed when I try to start it now that its been towed home it does not seem to have much power in battery when turning it over.I have not took battery off to charge as have found there is a certain procedure to follow will try and get a new battery this weekend if not holding charge p.s when rac bloke came out he checked my key on something to see if it was sending a signal and he said it was any help I will really appreciate as at witts end thanks Dave

A weak battery can give you all sorts of faults, it's quite scary seeing the warning lights come on. I had the same thing on mine, had to be rescued and the recovery man thought it was my glow-plugs. Mine just needed a new battery. Shame the RAC man didn't check your battery. It might also be a poor connection on the battery terminals, do they look corroded.

Follow the battery disconnection/connection procedure, its in the handbook or search this site.

Thanks for advice Rivis I have put new battery on following correct procedure still no joy exactly same but turns over a lot faster going to tow it to local Peugeot specialist to get it checked on computer,have noticed a couple of things while checking what was working electrically pulled on roof switch and interior light flickers and a picture of drivers door flickers as if it was open when touching switch ,dont know if this could be something to do with why central locking not working or could maybe something to do with locking solenoid on drivers door all lights wipers work heater stopped working and when it broke down it was low on petrol light just come on just put 3 gallon in while it was stood and still showing on centre console low fuel just wandering if anyone had any idea what might be wrong or if I need to check anything else before towing it in thanks Dave

This seems your best course of action now.

Ask for a printed copy of all the fault codes and post them here and we will try and help.

Hi the car is now fixed towed it to a Peugeot specialist that's local for me he put it on Peugeot planet.The BSI had corrupted its self so they re downloaded all software to it and everything now works thanks for all the input Dave

Last year, my 206cc was off the road for quite a few months - irratic acceleration one night, catalytic converter/immobiliser fault message. Managed to get home then wouldn't start. Eventually, changed the coil pack (along with the catalytic converter, spark plugs and air filter) and it was fine again. I've recently had the cambelt changed and an Mot. A couple of weeks ago I drove it to work for the first time this year. It was fine though when I started it in the evening it took a few seconds to fire up (usually starts quickly). The next morning it wouldn't start at all. It was an old battery so fitted a new one - still wouldn't start. A friend connected his diagnostic scanner and no faults came up. Also, there are no fault messages on the dash (except 'economy mode'). An electrical tester has shown that there's no current running through the coil pack when I try to start it. I even exchanged the coil pack for another new one (incase I'd originally bought a dudd) but still no joy. The fuel pump can be heard working when the key turns. I'm wondering if the key isn't deactivating the immobiliser when in the ignition, but wouldn't there be an error message on the dash if this was the case? Does anybody have any suggestions?
