electric window issues
Hi Guys, I have had a trawl through older threads, but cant find a match for my problem. Basically, when I tried the retractable roof this morning, the drivers side window would not go down, causing the roof alarm to activate, so I cancelled the operation. When I try the window on its own I can hear the relay clicking in the boot area somewhere, but cant work out where it is. The passenger window works fine, and the fuse is obviously intact. Can anyone point me in the right direction please, before I get an expensive garage bill! Typical I cant use the roof when the weather picks up!!

Re: electric window issues
So the window doesn't work with the window switch either?
Likely to be the window regulator motor, or the wiring associated with it (most likely in the grommet where it goes between body & door)

Is that a garage job then? How can I test if its the motor if there is no evidence of damage to the wiring?

Re: electric window issues
You need to take the door panel off to get to the motor, then you can test for power with a meter or test light, and then work back from there. If you want to have a go, I can give you some guidance.
Cheers Col.

Is there anywhere that tells you (my husband) how to get the panel off?

Haynes manual should ... you might be able to borrow one or look at one at your local library (assuming it hasn't been closed down and is now a coffee shop!) or buy a copy at Halfords or your local car parts outlet.
