I NEED HELP!!!

Post by tharetard »

Hi Guys

I am in the Northamptonshire (Kettering) area, and need some help with my 2002 206cc.

I think I have shorted a wire or two and messed up my BSI... After putting my key in and turning it, I received numerous faults including "passenger airbag deactivated" and "Engine Immobilizer Fault".

All of these faults have now been replaced with "Economy Mode Active", and I cannot start my car.

I am an apprentice, and need my car for my job. I have gone through and checked all the fuses, but don't know where to go next...

Can someone offer any advice?

I have tried restarting the BSI through the sticky on here, bt it doesn't seem to go to sleep...

After turning the car off, and closing the door behind me, the screen eventually turns off. Then, a couple of seconds later, it wakes up again without me doing anything...

Would a complete BSI replacement solve the issues?

Can you give a bit more detail about the shorted wires?
Cheers Col.

The wires were in the driver side foot well. Stupidly, I was attempting to implement a central locking system as mine didn't work.

The wires were part of a bundle of cables which seemed like they were going into the drivers door... I think it was an orange cable that caused the issue...

This is purely down to my stupidity, and I'm really feeling it now :(

I have checked all the fuses, both inside the car and under the bonnet. I have also left the battery disconnected for the past hour, reconnected it in the safe manner as per the sticky, and I still get nothing...

Looking at my module inside the car (is this the BSI or ECU or...?) One of the plugs is unoccupied. There are no other cables for me to plug in, but should there be one here? Could this be the issue:

Unlikely if it was working before your shorted the wires ...

You might need to get the car hooked up to PP2000 (PlanetPeugeot) to see what has happened. A 2002 car should work on most EOBD diagnostics though .. but they aren't as specific as the Peugeot version.

You could go to peugeotforums.com and have a look at their list of PP2000 "owners" and see if someone lives nearby and can come to you.

Otherwise do you have AA Home Start or something similar ???

Can't be much more help except to say to recheck all the fuses to make sure one isn't broken but not showing blow marks ... but as the BSI seems to have a mind of its own now, that isn't a good sign. Have you tried leaving the battery off for a hour or so, and reconnecting (using the correct procedure!).

There is a handbook on this forum you can download if you don't have one ... it might help find the fuses and relays.

And swapping out a BSI isn't simple .. its coded to the car and remotes/radio/etc ... it would need reprogramming ... :(

I have found a bsi on eBay, which comes with the ECU, keys with transponders, and locks. The part numbers also match what I currently have in the car, and they are from the same car as mine. My radio is also custom.

Would it be a straight swap in this case?

It should be, but you may need certain features enabled to make everything work as it should.
Make sure the wiring is fixed first.

The wiring I messed with is now taped up... I didn't see any other places where it could short again...

I have purchased a BSI, ECU, and full lock kit (including ignition with cables). I have also purchased a lexia 3 cable with pp2000 software and diagbox.

With a bit of luck, it should at least get me moving again...

Will keep you guys updated. Thank you for your input so far...

New bsi and ecu arrived. Fitted them. Went to start the car with the key and new transponder, got nothing. No errors showing as the screen still says economy mode active. Went and bought a battery charger to try and overcome this issue, no joy.

The bsi and ecu didn't come with the fuse box which lives under the bonnet, so have now replaced all fuses there to be on the safe side.

I still can't get it to start! :(

I'm not sure what to do next... My pp2000 connection cables and software should be arriving either tomorrow or Friday. Is there a certain procedure I can follow to find my problem? Any ideas on what to do next?

Is it also worth mentioning that the little Red light on the dashboard keeps flashing?

Flashing light points to imobiliser problem. Don't worry about eco mode, that will go once you start it.

Under what circumstances should the flashing light stop?

Should it stop when I lock the car? Or only when the key is in the ignition with the correct transponder?

The ECU didn't come with the pin code for the transponder. Am I able to use pp2000 or diagbox to decode this pin?

Ok, car up and running now...

Got pp2000 installed, ran diagnosis - unable to communicate with engine ecu.

Put old bsi and ecu back in, can communicate with engine ecu.

Into immobiliser settings, live data, not accepting transponder. Tried again, accepted. The car starts and lives again...

Very strange... On another note, how do I go about getting the pin code to reprogram a new transponder? What settings need to be active in pp2000 for remote locking to work?

Still don't have remote locking, but pp2000 says it has 2 remotes programmed in...
