The roof, the whole roof and nothing but the roof.

Could someone write a guide to roof operation and fault finding (where to start, most common fault etc.)
give location of micro switches, how to close manually, etc. and post as a sticky ?
At the moment, unless I've missed it, it seems you have to run through loads of postings.
Could we do a survey to find out most common problems/faults, solutions ?
I know this would mean a lot of work for someone and I'm thinking of Capncol or Grandadmonkey
- hi gents....but I think it would be a good idea to have as a starting place for the roof.
Any thoughts ?

Still think it's a lot to look through...I thought a complete guide with as much information to
cover such a large issue would be useful.

Hi Mark. My personal view is it is better the way it stands because it is to large an issue to do a "catch all" guide for.
Breaking it down to the elements you suggest....
guide to roof operation
covered here in detailhttp://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12920
and fault finding (where to start, most common fault etc.)
The most common fault is usually the owner! Having said that, the causes are many and varied, so without specific details of the symptoms, it's hard to come up with a diagnosis. People also have the option to use the search facility at the top, to look for something in particular
give location of micro switches
Herehttp://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12945
how to close manually
Herehttp://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/repair-20 ... im01f3.htm
These answers are readily available (all stickied at the top) in the roof section. If you can't find it there or via a *search* Then people are welcome to ask a question (it's not unreasonable to expect people to have a look at the stickies first is it?)

By putting it all together in one thread, I think it would be harder to find the individual topics, for instance, If you wanted to find the location of the microswitches, at the moment you can go straight to that topic.

Throwing it open to the members, What do you think. Lump it all together, or keep the stickies, or something else instead??
Cheers Col.

When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.

Just the info I was looking for, I've just joined here tonight after purchasing my baby this weekend for a pressie to myself for my 40th...have wanted one for 5 years! Had a golf GTI before which was great but I've always had a soft spot for the 206cc, however, was advised that the roof needed hydraulic fluid & have had a right ballache tracking it down, but have got some being delivered tomorrow, I'm hoping the roof won't stick anymore and that it really is as simple as fluid! But need to print off manual instructions just in case ;)
Thanks guys, shall be a regular popper-on-er-er on this site :D
Kindest Regards
Sal

Thanks Col. I'm having real roof trouble, I've changed the hydraulic fluid & the roof still won't operate fully it just stops halfway & I end up having to put it back together manually but I now have a constant beeping. I've checked out other ppls comments on this & have realised the boot latches (where the white loops are) aren't catching & I can't seem to get them to, any trick I'm missing that u know about how to fix this? And is anyone in Yorkshire that could have a look at the roof system for me do u know? I'm in Ripon near Harrogate. Thanks in advance :-)

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.

Thankyou Karrot, i took the car to the garage & between us looking at this link & the you tube vid, it took us an hour & half to get the roof back up!
Suffice to say, I've been sold a clanger & it is now in the hands of Trading Standards seeing as the garage want no part in the fact the didn't express the roof was faulty....gutted :(

Sorry to hear that Sally. Does the roof go down properly? The latch issue you describe only occurs if you have to manually finish an open or close cycle.
