Programming Key Fobs.

Post by Karrot »

I have a 2001 (51 plate) 2.0 SE.

When I bought the car I was given 1 key which operates all locks manually, and runs the car fine, but the remote function doesnt work. I've checked the battery and also replaced the battery in the fob.

My key looks like this, if it makes any difference

I also bought a fob from Ebay (tested working by vendor), but that failed to program up using any of the methods described.

I'm assuming I dont have a BSI in the car with her being a 51 plate (is there any way to tell?)

Is this going to be a trip to the dealers to get them working??

Cheers

It's very hit and miss with those keys. You have to get one that matches your existing one exactly (down to circuit board). I think the story from most owners is you can't ... Peugeot won't even try an re-program it .. they will sell you a new one .. except I don't think you can get them now.

I've tried and failed with one although I did get a new immobiliser chip for mine so I can at least start the car. Couldn't be bothered to go through the pain of trying to get sellers to tell me the codes on bits inside.

Cheers Gazza. I guess I'll just get a set of spare keys from Pug then so I have something that can unlock and start the car.
