Battery Clamp
Hi all fist off I know very little about cars I have a 206 1.1 lx. I was driving along and the car just cut out then came back on but it had reset all electrics it started again but happened a couple more times, I was told to check the earth cable when I was doing so I noticed one of the battery clamps was just resting on the terminal not actually clamped. I reclamped it and it seemed fine but it has just done the same thing and the clamp had come off again. So I was wondering if I could replace the clamp (its like a pull up and push down clamp) but noticed there is another wire coming off it just before the clamp going to the fuse box. Would this be somthing I could fix myself and what would I need?

Re: Battery Clamp
This pull off pull on clamp, I think is the quick release clamp on the positive terminal that is designed to be unclipped by hand? (i.e. rather than the one where you use a spanner to turn a nut).
You need to make sure you push the clamp down as far as possible whilst it is in the open position, keep holding it down whilst you spring the clamp to the shut position. You'll need plenty of pressure and both hands. The battery terminal is tapered so the clamp will naturally slip off if you don't get it firmly fixed. Hope that makes sense.
Follow the battery connection procedure as well, good luck.

Re: Battery Clamp
Also check the height of the battery ... you might have the taller Hatchback battery fitted in which case the cables are too tight and will put that terminal under too much tension.

Re: Battery Clamp
I've had the same problem.
If you feel the connection is not secure enough, remove the clamp and press together with a pair
of pliers and then re-fit.
