Evening all

Post by The Swig »

Though I'd introduce myself....... my wife and I have just bought a 206cc for her for daily use and me for the weekend 8)
I am heavily into motor sport and have done track days for a few years now.
I am currently in the process of converting my Clio 172, to make it suitable for the new series starting next year for Production French cars in the Track Attack Race Club.
Once that's done I'll be finding something else for my daily but will cross that bridge nearer the time.

Thanks for reading,

Adam

Hi Adam, nice to have you with us, and thanks for the brief introduction. Hope the 206cc you've bought proves to be a good'un.

Cheers Ron, booking it in for a service and checkover today. Hope there's nothing major but we intend to look after it and it was in better condition cosmetically, than the others I'd looked at. Not bothered if it needs a few hundred quid thrown at it. Will need cambelt pretty soon as I presume it hasn't been done as there is no proof.

Hope the check-over goes well.

Which model did you buy the 1.6 or the 2.0? How old is it and what mileage has it done?

Ours has been reliable. I do my own servicing and all I've had to replace in 8 years are the battery (this spring), a reversing lamp switch, one tyre (puncture) and a couple of bulbs. I shall renew the cambelt in 2015 when the car is 10 years old. It has only done about 30k miles and gets cossetted.

2.0 02 plate and 70k.
Yeah I don't mind pottering and can do most things but it never hurts to get it on a ramp, to look at it properly.
Taking it to the Peugeot Specialist in Nuneaton, as they've looked after my daughter's car well.

Well good news, nothing really major and just what I had expected. I knew the exhaust had a little blow and suspected a ball joint as there was a knock up front, turns out both need doing. Only surprise was a suspected dodgy driveshaft. All shall be done in due course.
I'm happy with that.

Not a bad result then. Always a bit scary, that first MOT after buying a second-hand car.
