Replacement parts and advice please

Post by ov24604 »

Hi everyone. I own a 2003 206cc in black. On Friday my partner lost control round a corner and went sideways into a field. The field was slightly lower than the road and the car ended up on its right side. Nobody else involved and nobody hurt at all.

What I now need is a new front bumper, new OS wing, OS door and OS mirror. That's the bare minimum to get the car back on the road. I'll then think about the rear wing, the OS door card (was stood on to get out the car and now crushed) and getting the driver's seat airbag repacked (if poss) or getting a new seat.

Don't suppose anyone has the parts I need? I've seen a few cars breaking on ebay and will contact these sellers. How about replacing them? Is it easy (i.e. just a socket set and some screwdrivers), or will I need to start cutting/welding etc?

Thanks all. Ov

Black EXL is a bit of an issue - parts go instantly, as I've previously found.

Where are you - could you put your location in your profile?
I might be able to get everything you need, AND in the right colour too.
As for replacement of stuff: bumper, wing, mirror, door, seat: all just bolt-ons - no cutting or welding required.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried to PM you but I don't think I've made enough posts. Do you have the parts I need then? I am starting to look at parts individually on ebay but with large postage costs on each item it may well be more cost effective getting the whole lot in one go.

Thanks, Ov. If you want to discuss things please email me on ov24604 at hotmail dot co dot uk.

Rear wing is welded. You will need new airbag as one time use. Crash data will need clearing from airbag module. Is the sill damaged? Also the front wing is different to a normal 206. That car is an insurance write off I would say

That's assuming it has the right wings to start with. There are a few 206's around with standard wings not the wider sport wings due to the cost of the sport ones. Trouble is then the tyres are much closer to the arches than they should be.

Yes, I thought the rear wing was welded. Might I be better getting in touch with a panel beater/dent puller? How does one clear the crash data from the airbag module? I don't think the sill is damaged, no. I agree that it would be an insurance write-off but I'm TPF+T so wouldn't get any payout anyway.

Thanks for the info and advice, Ov

I think you would need someone with Peugeot Planet 2000 to clear the crash data from your airbag module.
You should be able to find someone close to you who could do it for you on www.peugeotforums.com, but you may have to register and bump up your post count to over 20 before you can contact them.

The rear wing may need a lot more than a dent puller from the pictures you posted ... that's pretty badly creased. I'd have a chat with a proper bodyshop as they may need to cut the old one out and weld in a new one. Then try and respray it to match ...

Probably cheaper to replace anyway than try to repair.
Cheers Col.

ov24604,
I repaired similar damage, see this post. Damage was front & rear wings, drivers door and corners of front and rear bumper. I used new wing and secondhand door, and I think it cost me around £300-£400 for parts and materials and I did all the work myself and got the parts trade.
Things like wheel arch liners and plastic trim on doors and wing can bump the price up.
Unless you get this repaired to a good standard, don't bother doing it as the car will be worth hardly anything. Black shows every defect, so unless you can spray, get someone else to do the paint or else it will look terrible (I was going to put a 4 letter word in there)

If you decide to sell "as-is" I may be interested.
Cheers Col.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. I almost had a deal for the parts but unfortunately it fell through.

yorkielassy: I can not reply to your PM because I think I don't have enough posts. I'll make a few and then reply. But if you are able to get the parts like you said you might be able to then please let me know. You can email me on ov24604 at hotmail dot co dot uk and then I can reply to you.

Enright: it was almost so easy but these things happen and I'm sure something will come up.

Capncol: I looked at your post on the car with similar damage and I WISH I had to skills to do what you did. I still want to try and fix the car up myself but maybe it would not be worth it and it would be better to sell as is. I'll have a think and see if the parts come up at a decent price.

We'll see how it goes.

Sorry Oliver - I tried but someone seemed to be hell-bent on getting that donor car.
I ended up in a bidding war with them and eventually just had to say "sorry - too rich for me", and left them to it.

I completely understand. You had me lined up to buy some parts but it's not worth paying over the odds if you're never going to get your money back! Better what happened rather than you putting in a higher bid and then ending up with a lot of work and selling just to get back to break-even.

You could also try pug206cc-spares on ebay .. they break CCs (and normal hatchbacks).

Front wings, bonnet, bumpers, inner wings, front lights are same ... doors, rear wings and rear lights are CC specific.
