Rear boot lid section replacement

Does anyone have any experiance in replacing the upright section of the rear boot lid (the part that holds the number plate) See: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... ink:top:en

I've got a small dent on mine which would cost a lot more to remove than to buy a good replacement. However, as it's dark out I can't examine the car but I suspect it may be a complex job? Had anyone tried removing this panel, maybe it's just a few bolts... but doubt it.

Yes I've done it before. Seem to remember there being a lot more to it than expected, especially the liner. Lots of clips to remove.

Thanks, I've removed the liner a number of times so that's okay, when it's not raining and it's not dark I'll take a proper look.

Disconnect the battery and open the top half of the boot manually. If you try and do it by stopping the roof half way you will cause a problem.

I took it all apart on Sunday and had a good look, it's all quite easy to do, the usefull tip is to unbolt the trim that you use to pull the boot up (which has the registration plate lights in) if you remove that then it just comes away with a few bolts. I'll post a How To with pictures when I buy a replacement panel and actually fit it, I now know it's quite easy and achievable. No more than a 35 minute job

I have tried to replace the lower panel of my wifes 206cc.
Didnt come with an owners manual?
Seen them on ebay but not sure if they have much info in them ? is it worth getting one ?
How do you manually open the top of the boot ?

I just raised the first section of the roof electronically to expose the bolts. Stop it when the lid is vertical.
Most people say to never stop the roof mid cycle, however, I've got a hunch that if you continue the open/close cycle in the say direction as you started it will all be okay. I've not had a problem yet and I've done it loads of times.

I downloaded the owners manual here yesterday and found how to open the boot lid manually, by pushing in the corners of the two latches and raising it towards the back of the car.

To remove the old lower panel i had to take out 4 silver bolts holding the boot lid onto its carrying frame, to allow the panel to slip out. But now everything is bolted back into place the latch that hold the back edge down dont see to latch /lock !

They click as you lift the boot lid manually towards the back but as you lower it forwards, back down towards the car the cables seem to pull them shut and they wont latch.

Its obviously an allinment problem so i need some advice ....Help !!!

You may be able to access it better with the boot open (so to speak) and do it from inside.
