cooling fan fault

Post by tayles90 »

hi i'm really new to this but i bought a 2001 pug 206 1.1L petrol a couple of days ago i checked all the fluids topped everything up although the previous owner has bashed it to high heaven and i need a new wing for it amongst other items, it seemed a really good deal...however on the way back from a meal the other night the dashboard started to flash stop and the temperature was extremely high i obviously pulled over and let it cool down as i was in no rush, i've taken it to the garage this morning and they have said i have a leak near the thermostat and my cooling fan is knackered. now the mechanic has quoted me £114 for the cooling fan part £40 labour and £55 for the thermo... he did say i can look for the cooling fan on ebay or scrap yard but in my naivety i have no clue what to ask/look for, if that makes any sense. does anyone know of anywhere near stafford/stoke/cannock scrap yard wise or any sites to look on? also is this a universal fan or will it have to be strict part numbers? i hope this makes some sense lol and if anyone can help i'd be grateful for the advice :)

Hi and Welcome.
If you get one for same make / model /year, it should fit. The connecting plug may well be different, but that can be cut off and the one from your old fan crimped on. Sorry, can't help with scrapyards as not from around there. Someone else may well know of somewhere and may chip in later so check back
Cheers Col.
