Antipolution and engine management light on startup

Post by TTStang »

I know it's a common query but with a little info I hope to get nearer the solution with a little help here ;)
So she's a 1.6 16v 54k
Starts ok (has been stood for a few months!) plenty of smoke when first started. when moving off in 1 st it feels very sluggish, like moving off in 2nd gear! Until about 4 k revs then she wakes up with a vengeance :)
As long as I keep revs up she flies. !
But then at junctions moving off is very slow again !
Does seem to be v slightly better when warmed up !
Idles fine.
Both lambda sensors, map sensor too were replaced,
Had oil, filter and plugs changed .
P1072 code came up! Running rich!
Coil pack replaced or injectors cleaning?
Any advice before I spend more money :(
Many thanks in advance :)

I would change the Maf sensor.

I've got a coil pack you could try, but I don't know how good it is. You could have it for the cost of postage, and if it sorts it then come to some arrangement. PM me with your address if interested.

P1072 is pointing to the Nitrogen Oxide (NOX) sensor ...

Not sure which one that is on a 206!

But googling it, one site does mention MAF, MAP, lambdas, etc.

My monies on MAf as that will cause lack of power while giving reasonable idle. Can also skew the stoimetric causing that code.
Cheers Col.

Hi Thanks guys :)
Think I will try MAF first!
Is it true to test it that you can remove it then drive and see how it goes???

You can do that but it's not a 100% sure test. Use it as indication only.

You only need to disconnect it ... ;)

If it's like my Alfa, it won't be happy on idle so unplug, start and go for a quick drive. The EML (engine management light) will also be on permanently as it will think the MAF has failed.

I was told I have a MAP sensor not a MAF !!
It's usually one or the other!!
That was changed !!
