Whilst driving my other half's 206 1.4 LX (x-reg 2000), the diagnostic light suddenly came on.
Immediately took the car to my local garage, who diagnosed/ ?rectified 3 intermittent faults.
(key not learned, analogue module, ECU connection built-in systems interface.)
His diagnostic device shown all faults cleared, but he cannot extinguish the diagnostic light.
The car runs fine, but I still need peace of mind in case I get a serious fault.
Does this mean a trip to the dreaded dealership, bearing in mind the age of the car ?

Re: 206 1.4 LX diagnostic light.
Or go onto PeugeotForums and track down a Pug owner who is local with PP2000 who can do if for you for a few quid.
http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/gen ... der-15616/
Problem with many standard diagnostics is they don't actually talk to the pug correctly as the cars diag system isn't standard, so the codes you go might not be correct. Plus if the light comes back on, it may have found another fault.

Are we talking about the light that looks like an engine? Don't know what scan tool was used do you?
Cheers Col.

Re: 206 1.4 LX diagnostic light.
The orange light on the dashboard is lit, my previous experience of this light was earlier this
year. That time I called out the RAC who fortunately came out, diagnosed the catalytic converter
was faulty, but turned off the diagnostic light.
My local garage is not Pug dedicated, the print out he gave me says 'SMARTBOX 980248848300'.
The 2nd print-out he gave me said 'no trouble code found'. The mechanic seemed sure the car was OK.
So my choice at the moment is;-
(i) run around with the light lit on the dashboard (not keen)
(ii) spend more money and a different garage (might not be successful either)
(iii) main dealer
Many Thanks for your help, the car is 13 years old and this is the only time it has caused a problem,
not bad eh!

Hmm. That's a Launch system and they are pretty good. Maybe a PSA manufacturer code. Gazza is right. You need PP2000 for this. Where are you as there are a few of us with the system on here?
Cheers Col.

Re: 206 1.4 LX diagnostic light.
It may not be up-to-date, but the closest on PeugeotForums to you seems to be Plymouth which is a bit of a trek for either of you.
My Sealey unit resets the engine management light on both our pugs (2001 and 2002 mux), so I can't see why one in a garage wouldn't. Seems odd it didn't work on yours unless a fault has come back straight away. Shame I'm not in Devon or planning a visit that way ... sorry.
Just playing with Google suggests this garage ...
http://www.service4service.co.uk/citroe ... uth-devon/ ... Citroen and Peugeots are basically the same underneath unless this is where you went. Or possibly http://www.garageteignmouth.com/7.html

Hi gazza
Thanks for your help, that was the garage I use. So I'm guessing the fault has re-occured.
I've got the address of a independent garage in Honiton. He is experienced Peugeot technician, who
I believe contributes on this forum.

That'll be REAP ... yes, he's probably your best bet.

Re: 206 1.4 LX diagnostic light.
Hopefully not sounding boring, but to conclude my problems.
My wife took her 206 to another garage (fully booked) and dreaded main dealer (also booked till mid Oct).
She cheekily called out the RAC again. The technician turned up and quickly diagnosed a Catalytic
Converter fault again, bearing in mind the 'cat' was changed in June this year.
He turned the light out, his opinion was the 'cat' was not a genuine peugeot part, a kwik-fit brand.
You will not buy a decent 'cat' for £230 .

Re: 206 1.4 LX diagnostic light.
The light is now staying off? If so, may have been one of those *Peugeot moments* that they sometimes have.
Thanks for coming back with the update.

I paid £175 for a brand new Bosal cat fitted, I believe if you get a 'type approved' cat it should be ok
Bosal are easily one of the best,When I worked for Kwik-Fit (a few years ago) we mainly used Bosal and TiMax exhausts,if a part was needed urgently and we didn't have it in stock then we normally got one from
a local motor factors and I must admit the quality of some was shocking
