Hi Guys

Post by Harni »

Evening all!
The missus has today bought a 52 reg Aegen blue CC. I have always been a big peugeot fan owning a 306 GTi6 my self. Always been a fan of the older stuff (would love a 205 GTi but cant afford one as a toy :( ) but this keeps her happy and i must say, its a lovely car! Needs a bit of a tidy up inside but other than that, its pretty damn good!
Just a few questions of which im sure will be many being a peugeot!

Firstly, when we open the catches for the roof, it pings to acknowledge it and carries on the procedure fine until the roof is down and the window switches are working again. On the way up is a different story however. Everything works fine until you close the catches. Sometimes it doesn't register that the catches have been closed. Am i correct in thinking this is a fault micro switch? If so, is it repairable or is it a case of replacing it?
Secondly, when the boot lid starts to lift, it can take its time. Am i correct in thinking it just needs a top up on hydraulic fluid? If so, will the system need bleeding in anyway or is it self bleeding?
Lastly, the car shows up on all the insurance sites and HPI, auto trader etc as a 206cc 2.0 Black/silver. Is it some sort of special edition? The actual colour shows up on the logbook and insurance and HPi as blue and i know they did the 406 coupe in a black and silver special edition. If so, whats the difference between this one and a standard azure?

Thanks guys!

Hi and welcome.
Certainly sounds like it could be a sticky micro-switch. They can get a bit lazy with lack of use. You may be able to free it up by just exercising it a bit. There is one at the top of the A-pillar on each side (by the top corners of the windscreen). Alternatively you might find that the metal lever on one of the microswitches has bent slightly and isn't operating the switch consistently. Easy fix, just bend it back a smidge to get a more positive action.

I believe the system is self-bleeding, but it would be worth checking that the pressure release-valve (front RH of the boot) is nipped-up using the long allen-key.
You could also remove the trim panel from near the motor, and have a look at the motor itself to see if the fluid level is OK. If it isn't, I think others have posted instructions about how to top-up the fluid. Obviously if the level has dropped, you need to trace any leaks too.

Can't tell you much about the colour mismatch, sorry. I had a N reg Pug 306 D-turbo in the dim and distant past, and each year insurers insisted to me that the model didn't exist for that age car, despite the fact it was completely original. In other words, their records aren't infallible.

Hi Harni, I get all sorts of pings and gongs at odd times. Don't let the battery go down otherwise everything wants to play - false computer messages - pings, jingles, false warning lights - automatics have the bonus of being locked into 3rd gear. Its all part of the fun of driving these cars - you never know what to expect, but when they behave there's nothing better on the roads.
