Hi

Post by Stan 24v »

Just thought I'd say a quick hello.

I joined to try to find out some info for my girlfriends 206cc, as I didn't realise there was a battery disconnect / connect procedure!!

Anyway, it would be rude if I didn't say hello, so hello!!

I am a bit of a German car guy although I did own a Renault 19 in the 90's lol

I work as a Ground Engineer / Crew Chief on C17 Globemasters in the RAF, and currently drive a BMW M135i.

Cheers
Stan

Hi Stan, welcome to the forum. We have a VW and a 206cc. Like them both - little goes wrong with either of them but they do get serviced regularly by me. Disconnecting the battery is covered briefly in the owners manual pages 109 and 125.

Hi Ron

Thanks for the welcome.

She didn't have a manual, and its the first time Ive ever come across a procedure to be fair. Ive also lost the bloody radio code too as I thought she had it - never assume!!

Stan, if it's got the original radio then the code is the VIN number. If this has been scrambled during a battery disconnect then when you find someone with PP2000 they should be able to reset it for you.
Otherwise if you're worried that disconnecting the battery may cause it to lose its code, there's no need to be concerned.
On the other hand, if it's an aftermarket stereo, then you are indeed slightly up a well-known creek in a barbed-wire canoe without a paddle, but armed with the above info, you should be able to pick up a dead cheap radio off eBay, and can then get it coded to your CC relatively easily - I've done it myself.
