Grrrrrrrr.

Post by Englishbull4418 »

Hi all, hopefully somebody can come to the rescue...........

Right Mrs as a 52 206cc and the roof worked fine without any issues.
Whilst I was cleaning the car one day, I stopped the roof going back so I was able to clean the back window.......................yes as you may gather the roof stopped in the position but I operated it in the manual settings and all was well.

Since then the roof had been working fine but as since stopped working in the electrical mode.

The car as lost it's parcel shelf release chord ( heard this is common) but managed to release it manually and get the roof up.
Now the wife in her wonderful wisdom descided to put the roof down in yestedays hot weather but when she tried to put back in electric mode it did not work.
I have put it back manually but when trying to lock the roof down securely it just beeps and it seems to be not locked securely enough................eg when in electric mode you can hear the rear deck lock...........

I have tried putting the auto locks back in correct position and re pressurised the system with allen key but still no joy.............

Is it something to do with the micro switches or the parcel shelf?

Any advice/ help be gladly appreciated, as 1. can do without the cost and 2. I do not like to be defeated with cars..............

I run three Classic Triumph cars and are far easier to maintain but gotta keep the Mrs happy :D

thanks in advance.

As you stopped the roof mid sequence it will have lost its memory. It warns you against doing this if you read the owners manual. I don't think it is anything to do with the owner's wonderful wisdom.

If you want to put it right for her I think you have 3 options - take it to a Peugeot main dealer who will reset it properly for you, take it to an independent 206cc specialist who will do it for you, or, if you do not like to be defeated, then trawl through the myriad of posts in the Roof section of the forum where you will find out how to do it.

Welcome to the forum.

Cheers for the reply..................

The roof as worked properly since I stopped it mid cycle and as since retracted but then will not go back up..................due to parcel shelf not releasing I presume..........

I will trawl through the posts as suggested but just thought somebody maybe able to give a quicker pointer.............. eg resetting the micro switches.

thanks again...........

No I don't think it will be a case of resetting microswitches - perhaps one is sticking though. reap did a post a few years ago (he is a trained Peugeot technician and now has his own business). If I find the post before you do I'll put up a hotlink for you. There are others on here who know what they're doing with the roof mechanism. They'll probably put in their four pen'orth soon.

Do you get any beeps or tones when the roof is in place and you are driving along witht he roof up?
Likewise, do you get beeps or tones when the roof is down and you are driving along.

Cheers for the thread link GrandadMonkey.

EdmundIJones yes getting beeps and tones when roof up but is that because the roof is not locking fully?
eg it is not clicking into place.

If it beeps when it is up then it points to one of the microswitces not properly being open/closes (depending in which one. I had this same issue a few weeks ago, the only thing you can do is go around each switch, check it over and make sure it's seated properly.

I had an issue where it beeped when the roof was down, I ended up taping up each switch in turn, and then going for a drive to see if it dropped the beeping. As you had problems with the parcel shelf, I'd start with the micro switches there.
