Re: Making it all like new...
Gazza (or anyone else who knows the answer), do you happen to know what the difference is between the 138bhp standard lump and the 180bhp version? They're both 2 litre 16V units aren't they, so how does one make 42bhp more without some sort of blower involved?

Personally I bet over a year I still pay less than Halfords with a discount as I take my time and shop around. And no, I don't use ebay ... but you can get good deals by looking. That includes the internet and local outlets.
I can get oil filters for about 30% of what Halfords charge and that's straight over the counter. And they aren't Halfords branded ... whatever that would be ... by well known names like Cooper Fram, etc.
As a member of HM Forces, you can ask for one.

No blower, normally aspirated.Enright wrote:Gazza (or anyone else who knows the answer), do you happen to know what the difference is between the 138bhp standard lump and the 180bhp version? I think it's the injection system and possibly slightly different cams but I'm not an expert on them. The guys on 206info.co.uk might know or it might be on their website/forum ... just reading up and 180 manifold adds 15bhp but then you need the 180 alternator (must be smaller to fit!) ... throttle body might be larger ...
The other questions is .. is it 42bhp? ... or a marketing persons rounding up?!?

Re: Making it all like new...
Apparently ...
- Slightly tweaked cylinder head for better flow
- Different inlet and exhaust manifolds to improve flow
- Higher Compression ratio
- VVT (variable valve timing)
And in reality, it's probably closer to 160-165bhp ...
I think they also tweaked the suspension and larger brakes (so possibly larger wheels).
You can fit the intake and exhaust to the 138 and it goes up to 145-150'ish depending where it starts .. production engines don't always make what it say on the tin!!
You'd get instant gains by blue-printing the engine .. re-building it the way the engineers designed: everything balanced and matching ... getting the exact specs might be the hardest job.
