Afternoon all,
I have a Pug 206cc se 2001
It failed it's MOT on the offside rear radius arm having excessive play in the pin/bearing.
when i jacked the car up to have a look the rear wheel moved towards the front of the car touching the inner arch. Is this indicative of the rear radius arm having excessive play or another problem?
Any help would be much appreciated.
regards
Derek

Re: Rear wheel moving
Sounds like a lot of play if it moves that far ..
I would guess it's more likely to be the trailing for the rear arm ... the MOT sheets use a standardise wording and can be interpreted differently.
Bad news is, if you read the threads on 206info.co.uk forum, the repair might mean a new rear axle!

Re: Rear wheel moving
According to Haynes, and I haven't done this myself, it's:-
You might find someone on 206info.co.uk has done this ... and can provide a better write-up or hints
New mounts will need hydraulic press and should be replaced in sets of four.
It also mentions the need to check the ride height afterwards and this is probably a dealer-only task.
- Remove exhaust and heat shields
- Disconnect handbrake cables
- Disconnect ABS sensors and free wires from any underbody clips, etc
- Disconnect brake pipes from unions on/in front of axle (so be prepared to bleed system)
- Check all cables, hoses. wires have been unclipped
- Support weight of axle on trolley jack beneath centre
- Remove four bolts and washers (torx head bolts)
- Drop axle assembly (looks like you leave the tie-rods and rear shocks in place at this stage)
