Hi guys,
My girlfriend has a 51 plate and the roof hasn't worked for a while!
Today we decided to try it again'
Everything was going well till the last stage and the boot lid section wouldn't close!
We had to manually put it back up!
Any clues to the reasoning?
Thanks in advance

Re: Damn roof
IRC the 206cc roof runs on a timer so if it is too slow it will flash up an error.
1st thing I would do is check the pivot points to make sure they are moving freely. It may be a micro switch also which is broken so the ecu doesn't know the roof has retracted fully so won't close the boot.

Thanks
Do you have to remove the boot lining to find the micro switches?
Where are they?
She had the car parked up for a year and it wouldn't work after that!
Might be a contactor dirty
Just need to work out where all the switches are

Re: Damn roof
No. Look behind the plastic panel hiding the parcel shelf. You can see a few microswitches there.
Most of them are visible without removing the liner.

Re: Damn roof
Have been playing with the roof the last few evenings!
After watching the video of the roof operation it seems the problem is at the stage when the parcel shelf should move into place and the lid close on the stowed roof!
Have taken the plastic panel off and seen lots of the switches - cleaned them! How do I check they work though?

Re: Damn roof
Sounds a similar issue to one i had.
When the roof is folding into the boot, is there any hesitation at all?
My problem was the microswitch in the left hand side of the boot as you look into it, the end near the seats. Switch K i think.
As the roof folds open, this is meant to open that microswitch, however on mine the pin was sticking, so despite the roof opening, the computer still thought it was closed. As a result it stopped further operations.
The bootlid stayed vertical, and the parcel shelf wouldn't move.
The microswitches tend to make a clicking sound if they are working, however to test properly you need to plug into diagnostics. Saying that, with mine, the switches were all giving messages, so it wasn't until i checked further that i found the problem.
If you look at the microswitches, you will see a small pin that is pressed/released by the thin metal arm (they probably have technical names, but hopefully that makes enough sense....!) If that pin sticks, you can normally free it up.
On mine, the roof suddenly worked perfectly after that.

Re: Damn roof
We have checked and cleaned the micro switches and still nothing!
And to make it worse I trapped my finger closing the boot!
Is anybody in the midlands area (northampton) who could look at this and hopefully fix it?
Thanks

Re: Damn roof
Easy to find the fault basically on the left hand side of the boot at the back where the roof folds there is a micro switch, it's quite hidden probably best using a torch, there is a micro switch. When the roof is closed the switch stays flat, when the roof opens its supposed to switch but they don't they stick. It's easy to remove but fiddley to replace and I seriously recommend using a magnetic t20 screwdriver as drop the screw and your stuck.

Re: Damn roof
The roof is now working!
Removed the switch on the back left (that i had missed numerous times previously) with a torx 20 bit, and could see straight away the issue - the micro switch was stuck.
Released it, put it back together and hey presto everything works.
Thanks for all the help guys

Re: Damn roof
Great news! Thanks for letting us know which switch was the culprit, it may help others with similar problems.
