Help with Battery re-connection
Please can anyone help me? I have a (Peugeot 206) 2004 and today it went to have a Rip in the drivers seat repaired. Because the guy wanted to take the seat out he disconnected the battery because of the airbags. So Now when it is reconnected will the computer need reseting? It has just had a service today as well, it was all going great... Now I am worried about what will happen when it is reconnected... Is there any thing I need to know before we reconnect the Battery

Re: Help with Battery re-connection
Is the car a 206 hatchback or a 206cc? If a hatchback I have got away with following no special procedures. If a 206cc then you are supposed to follow the procedure in the owners manual before disconnecting the battery but it is a little late for that now. I assume you have at least left the driver's window open.
When I renewed my battery recently, when reconnecting I followed this procedure:
All the doors have to be closed with the ignition key turned off and the key taken out.
Now without opening the doors, reconnect the battery and wait for 10 seconds.
Reconnect the positive lead first, negative lead last.
Operate the deadlocking with the remote transmitter then unlock the vehicle.
Turn on the headlights.
Before starting the engine for the first time, turn on the ignition and wait for ten seconds to initialise the various electronic control units.
Turn on the engine and inspect the system's functioning.
Hopefully all will be well.
Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Re: Help with Battery re-connection
Hi GrandadMonkey it is a Two Door Hatchback 206 / 1600cc I don't think he has left the window down but I was thinking that when I go over tomorrow I will get in the car and shut the doors, then get him to reconnect the battery then I can do the rest from inside the car do you think that will work ? Thanks for your help

Re: Help with Battery re-connection
It is a Peugeot 206 xs 2004 1600cc 136,000ks It had NO problem... as I said in my first post it had just had a service and running great... the only problem was a rip in the seat so the guy that was fixing it disconnected the battery because of the air bags. So I was worried about the computer & wanted to know the right way to connect it

Re: Help with Battery re-connection
It's a hatchback so if you follow Capncol's advice you'll see:
"Method for connecting the battery:
The following procedure is for reinstalling the battery connection unless told otherwise by Peugeot or Product service. Failure to follow this procedure may result in damage to the BSI’s embedded software during reconnection.
1.All the doors have to be closed with the ignition key turned off and the key taken out.
2.Now without opening the doors, reconnect the battery and wait for 10 seconds.
3.Turn on the headlights, turn on the engine and inspect the system’s functioning."
