roof again, ecu or pump ?

Post by vaiduoklis69 »

Hi everyone,
roof worked nicely. after couple days tried to open and it stopped. got bong , but after that - nothing. no windows, no noises - just warning melody. then i went tru all switches - all passed so control unit or pump ?
folded down manually and closed. After dont have bong anymore , instead just warning melody same second when latches open. how to check pump and how check ecu ? currently leaving for 24 h with unplugged batt.

Thanks for answers
Ted

Could you give more info on what point the roof stops?
If roof is moving one way with the motor, then motor likely ok.
If its stopping and bonging, then sounds like ecu is working.
As is often the case, you might want to check microswitches.
But if you give more info on what point roof stops, then someone is likely going to be able to give more accurate pointer.
Cheers
Matt

Thanks matt, my english is terrible :)by stopped I mean roof didnt moved at all. I did continuity test for 9 microswithes and they all passed. currently roof is closed and doesnt open at all. All windows are working if you using window switches. I have bong when open latches, just when i press roof switch nothing is happening. I already checked microswitches - im wondering - could it be ECU fault ?

Could be ecu. Does motor make any sound?
Have you checked the u clips are in the right place?
I think there is a sticky which has link to youtube video of roof operation.
Might be an idea to have a look at that for full explanation of how it all works.
Also check fluid level in pump reservoir.
Right hand side of boot. Pull back liner, and get pump out of its insulated case.

I found problem :) it was my wife, she stopped roof in the middle 0f cycle, turned engine off and cleaned all rubbers :D Isnt that lovely :D so ordered new ecu from Ebay. Fluid seems o.k. and 3/4 full, just up to + sign on the pump. Anyway if you have any problems with your 206cc roof, first thing to check is your Missy :D
Thanks for support Mattau, hopefully this post will be useful to anybody.

Thanks for the update! These ECUs do seem a bit sensitive.
Everyone says not to turn off ignition half way etc, and also not to reverse direction, but i will admit to having done both. Maybe i was just lucky, but when you are having roof problems, you sometimes try everything!
They don't make it easy to clean/silicone the rubbers though that's for sure!
Hope the new ecu sorts everything out.

Update, Ecu arrived today, straight in and roof works flawlessly. Once again : you need to interrogate main cc user regarding roof issues. Ecu on ebay = £25 free pp. hopefully this will help
Thanks mattau for your support.

Glad you got it sorted. Not a bad price for ecu by the sounds of it too!
