Hellooooooo

Post by Badabingx »

Hey everyone :)

Been creeping for a few weeks since I was thinking about buying my car. Picked it up a few weeks ago so finally decided to say hello!

Bought my 206cc 1.6 sport 2 weeks ago tomorrow, and I swear I have never loved anything so much in my life :) just a stunning car, and it runs amazingly! Definately a massive change since I spent the first year and a half of my driving life in 1.0 C1 VTR!

Had a little tiny problem I am taking it into the garage for on Thursday morning - a leak at the interior light, but after searching on here I've realised its not that massive a problem so I'm not worried about it.

Here's hoping the sun comes out soon!

Yes, it'll be the aerial seal. Hope they do it properly and don't try to bodge it.

Welcome to the forum.

Well took the car into the garage this morning.

They didnt even look at it :( I had it booked in as a 'while you wait' booking, and the guy basically told me no chance, they would need it at least a day, which would be fine, but possibly five days!!

Then said they shouldnt even be fixing it because I bought it at a different Evans Halshaw branch, and the branch I bought it from should be fixing it because they sold it to me faulty, and they would have to absorb the cost.

Is it worth fighting Evans Halshaw on this? Or should I just take it to someone else and pay for it to get fixed? I mean, its not even that bad, its only done it a little bit once, but I dont want it to get any worse then end up having to fork out a small fortune.

ARRGGHHHH!!

I'd take it back to where I bought it and ask them to repair it free of charge.

Water getting in there will cause corrosion and possible electrical problems.

But what poor customer service from the Evans Halshaw Group. The job should take them an hour, maybe two - and why can't the branch that fixes it do an inter-company debit on the branch that sold it? Or is that too hard???

If the branch where you bought the car from gives you more grief and you get nowhere with the local management team then take it up with Customer Care:

I've booked it again, next Monday for 3 days with a courtesy car. Hopefully it will just take a few hours and I will get the car back that day.

Noticed something else now too...the drivers window does not meet the rear window when they are both up. Everytime I roll the window up, I have to pop the window back into the seal from the outside. That only works at the top though, there is still a gap at the bottom. Talk about nightmare.

Thanks for your advice :)

Try rubbing some clear silicon grease into the window seal to lubricate it. You can buy it in tubs from a plumbers merchants - a trifle expensive so use it sparingly.

Thank you for posting that link to customer care Grandad Monkey - looks like I might need it after all.

Took the car to the local garage again yesterday - again they refused to even look at it, telling me it is the branch where I bought it's responsibility to fix the faults (the interior leak, the drivers window, and now the tracking needs checked as it is drifting to the left). My warranty on it runs out today.

Had a call from the service manager at the branch where I bought it this morning, and I have to take it to them next Wednesday. Hopefully it is third time lucky, I'm really beginning to stress now!

Could be tracking but could be the tyres. Checked the pressures? Are they the same make tyres all round, and all in good condition?

Good luck next Wednesday. Hope they still honour the warranty with no more argument.
