Asked at the local tyre place (you can't get quicker......) this morning about a replacement exhaust for the wife's cc, its still going but won't last that much longer. Their advice was to go to a main dealer for genuine parts rather than an aftermarket replacement as they are generally poor in terms of fit and aren't worth the hassle.
Truth or myth?
Thanks in advance Andrew

Our car is still on the original at 8 years old so Peugeot ones can last well. Why not get a quote? Be prepared for a shock though.
Other folk on here have gone for stainless steel systems with some success:

Yes the original has lasted well, 7 years on Lisa's car. I am sure it will go through the MOT on Monday but it might be time to replace it proactively rather than wait for it to fail!

Re: 206cc 1.6l replacement exhaust
If you go to a dealer you'll get the same parts as a local exhaust place except you'll have Peugeot stickers. Peugeot don't make them, they buy them in although they may get a slightly better quality as their suppliers don't want to lose the business!
Get something like a Bosal exhaust and you'll be fine.
I got one for our 2.0 from online-automotive. I fitted it myself though .. I've also used buypartsby.co.uk for exhausts and found they supply good quality parts.
Don't got to kw**f*t ... half the time they don't fit them properly. A local independent tyre/exhaust company is a much better bet. Surprised they don't want your business though ...

Where are you Andrew? I'm just about to break a 1.6 CC with 43,000 on the clock, and the exhaust is fine.
