Anti Pollution Fault

Post by lowfat »

Since yesterday my car now has the Anti Pollution message displayed. Yesterday I put some oil in my engine as it was running low. Coincidence maybe? Anyway, does anyone know what the message means could be wrong with my car? My car runs fine except a slightly knocking noise from the front driver's side as I brake but that's another post.

What engine, and what oil did you put in?

engine is 1997cc I put 5w40 fully synthetic oil same as always - that's what the manual and guide book at Halfords recommended for my make and model. I don't think I put too much in but could that possibly cause the message to appear? I'm just hoping it will eventually disappear but the manual said I should take my car to a dealer if I get this message which is a bit vague.

Hmm! Not likely the oil then.
A good hard run sometimes clears it, espesially if the car does lots of short journeys. It all depends what the root cause is. A good diagnostic machine should point you in the right direction.

My car has had this come up a lot. Not recently because I no longer run the fuel less than about a third of a tank and I use Bp ultimate. I highly recommend.
