Roof not working + battery light on

Post by LittleMissND »

Evening All,

I've just got a lovely 206 cc 03 plate 1.6 4 days ago and the roof worked perfectly each day...........until today.
I was told by dealer to have the ignition on but engine not running when operating the roof, which I did, I get the initial confirmation bong when I unlatch the roof but when I move the switch I get a series of different toned beeps until I release the switch and the roof doesn't move. The windows are operational by the switches.
I noticed the battery light was on today when I tried and the roof, could this be that I've drained the battery to a level that won't support roof operation?
The rear 1/4 passenger window had a bit of a strop on sunday and refused to go up until I encouraged it. I tested the roof straight after and it was all good.
I currently have the anti pollution fault although it passed an mot 5 days ago so am reluctant to think this is anything serious to do with the cat and just a niggle as I've read on forums. I'm currently trying the 'full tank of bp ultimate + redex' theory for that :)
Should I be replacing the battery? Will this solve the roof issue?

Thank you so much in advance

Nikki

The battery light will be on with the ignition on and the engine not running.
You should have the engine running when operating the roof due to the amount of power it uses.
Make sure the boot blind is properly clipped into the *hooks*

As you bought the car from a dealer, you should have some kind of warranty, so get them to have a look if you still can't get it to work.
Cheers Col.

All sorted :)

Was the boot sensor

Thank you

Had my brake discs and pads changed today and was told my catalytic convertor is worn out. The garage said I don't have to rush to replace this, is that right?

Thanks in advance AGAIN

If the cat is worn out then it should be replaced as it will be an MOT fail if the limits for CO2 etc are exceeded.
I had a faulty Catalytic converter when I bought My 206CC, bought from a dealer with a warranty so I presented the car back to the dealer and told him to fix it, or refund, He fixed it. I would go that route if you can.

Thanks buggy.

Am slightly unnerved as it had an MOT last Friday, I bought it on saturday and its now Thursday. The emissions report states that it passed!!! How is that possible if the cat is worn out?

The Cat will pass but the emissions picked up by the Lambda sensors around it will keep giving the ECU fault readings, and so the faults keep flashing up.

I used the Sale of Goods rant as not fit for purpose, as the car kept showing the Anti pollution fault from the day I picked it up. They ended up replacing one Lambda sensor and the exhaust section containing the Catalytic Converter, all at their expense, been fine ever since. HTH.
