Newbie questions, first post

Post by Wilfandrowlf »

My wife has just bought a 2.0 CC and it needs a few little fixes.
Firstly the display panel in the middle of the dash (in from of the hazard switch) is faulty.
I'm not sure what info it's meant to display as there is loads of dead pixels but is it a simple fix?
Are they available used or remanufactured (I.e BBA REMAN who I have used before) and is it a simple case of swapping out the faulty one?
Next, it only came with one key, so I want to get a spare.
I want to avoid dealers if at all possible so I was going down the eBay route.
I figured a lock smith can cut a blank blade and the blipper can be reprogrammed so that just leaves the immobiliser/transponder, can they be rechipped and coded by a decent auto lock smith?
Does anyone have any experience of the latter?

She loves the car and I hope it'll be reliable :)
I've owned several German cars lately and they haven't been very reliable so how bad can a French one be? Eek!
Many thanks

right display is naffed same as mine, theres few displays to 206cc, but need to take the cover off gently and on the display box on the left hand side (i think its at the bottom) theres a code. mines a ppt40, best bet is ebay or someone who got one on here. but there about £40-60 pounds. keys cut and 2nd hand remote yes but to have transponder part i have no idea on anybody thats does them only pug dealer. i was told when i ask about c5 spare key for 04 plate, the guy looked at me and said make sure that have insurance for lost keys.... as keycard and key could cost in excess £400-500 which made bloody new key worth more than the c5!!!
