Post by johniban »

Hey everyone how are we all.
im from the south east in sunny old eastbourne.
recently bought by Mrs a new car, a 206 gti 138 lovely little car, being a citroen teccy and formaly and peugeot teccy i couldnt think of anything better to get her.

heres some pics, bought it with horrible black sprayed wheels so got myself some 2k glitter silver and got on with spraying them

Seems to be nice, has done 68000 miles and runs well, started missfiring when i got it home turned out to have the original spark plugs in it still, changed them and it runs like a dream,
Need to take of the exhaust manifold and weld that up as its rattling
and the rev counter and central locking is messing about :/

Did you fit Super 4 plugs? I've put them in the CC and it's a dream to drive now. Like you the original plugs had the pug lion on ... and looked ancient!

No pug lion? never seen that before? the original plugs have a red dot on top of them, didnt fit any super plugs theres no point and the irridium one tend to burn out and drop bits of plug into the cylinder :/ standard plugs for me :)

Gazza is right. Peugots seem fussy on plugs ( they don't generally like NGK)
The Bosch super 4's aren't irridium, they just have 4 earth electrodes.

John might be OK. I think I read that the coil-pack is part of the problem with some only working with certain plugs. IIRC the Sagem coilpack is best with Bosch Super 4s ... I had a Sagem unit on my engine, so super 4s it is.

Now to try and solve the lost of power on the hdi ... couldn't get much above 70 today and some of that was downhill!! Just ran out of steam ... and any up-hill sections were embarrassing .. the artics overtook me!

It was the Mass Airflow Meter ... one between air filter and turbo ...

Thought it might be as it's the same lack of power issue with my Alfa when that one goes. One of the two hot-wires had broken off. Took a chance on one of ebay for £40.

Got my 68 gee-gees back! :)
