Please help . engine stalling

Post by welsh girl »

Hiya, I have an 06 reg diesel engine 206 . I was driving her on new years day when the engine began to cough and splutter as if it was running out of fuel. I pulled over and sat and cried for a while , then tried the engine again, it ticks over fine but as soon as I try to move off the engine stalls again. I tried forcing the engine whilst parked up, holding it at 3000 revs and the 4000 revs and there was no problem but again as soon as I move off the fault returns.
I got it towed to my local garage and they tried a cranck shaft sensor but that didn't cure the fault. No warning lights are coming on at the dash and the garage say that no faults are showing up on their computer, they have said that they will ask around to see if anyone has encountered this before but apart from that they say all that they can do is take it to peugeut and get it tested there. I don't really want to do this as I am not a millionaire !!!
Any thoughts which I could put forward to the garage to try
please please please

I have always found our local Peugeot specialist to be fair on prices. They should know what they are doing and find the fault quickly too. If you had a VW where would you take that?
