Hi teasy, welcome to the forum.
Is it the original battery? If so then it is 8 years old. About time for a brand new battery. This cold weather sorts out the ones that are on their last legs. I assume you have a 206cc, if so, then make sure you get the correct battery for it, they are different from the hatchback ones. Get one from your Peugeot dealer and you'll get the correct specification taller battery. Take heed of the notes in your owners manual before fitting it.
If the battery has been renewed already check that it is the correct one for the car and that the terminals are clean and the connections are tight. Check the earth lead too.
If your clock wasn't zeroing I may have suspected a faulty starter motor but your symptoms point to the battery and/or connections.

Re: re car not starting
Some people have used the 206 hatchback battery on the 206cc by mistake in the past. The hatchback battery isn't as tall and this places strain on the terminals with consequent breaks in continuity. If you got the wrong battery then you can try a piece of wood underneath it to pack it. However the correct battery is ideal as it has the capacity to cope with the extra load required for the 206cc.
