Squeaking clutch pedal
I have a 206, recently the clutch pedal has started to make a slight squeak when depressed, it's coming from inside the car not outside. I haven't noticed any problems with the clutch all seems fine, no other noises or problems changing gear etc. Been told by the garage that I need a new clutch as the thrust bearing is failing this is based on the mechanic hearing the squeak when test driving the car for another issue. Do I need a new clutch or is it likely to be just the pedal? Cars done 64000 and is a 55 plate. Any advice appreciated.

spray some silocon spray around the pedal joints if it go's away sorted, if not he could be right but get a second opinion before they do the work, on that milage if it's the original it is getting worn mine lasted until 78k.

furnature polish is good for the testing for the noise if you have no silocon, plus it will smell nice in the car for a while

Thanks, I did a 200 mile round trip after they told me it needed replacing and no issues. I'll try the furniture polish tomorrow

My clutch squeaks, I thought it was just a quirk in my car. It also had a new clutch and gearbox bearings in June (but it squeaked before they were changed & still squeaks)

Re: Squeaking clutch pedal
If the noise is from under the bonnet area, then it's likely to be the clutch. Otherwise follow Shadows tips. Just be careful you don't get spray on the part of the pedal where your foot rests, or it might get slippery.
Cheers Col.

If it is the thrust bearing will I do any added damage by continuing to drive my car, like I said before not noticed any other issue with the clutch?

Re: Squeaking clutch pedal
go get the polish out and spray some like i said, then pump the pedal a couple of times then re apply and by the morning you will know the answer, thrust bearing squeal usually gets worse when the clutch is depressed as more pressure is put on it
