Hi I have a 2004 - 206 cc 1.6 and it has just come back from garage with a £500 bill ! It went in because when you turned ignition key it clicked and nothing else happened but I did get it to turn over eventually and took to my local garage on sunny Guernsey where labour costs are very high! They said I needed a new battery & alternator - collected car and started at garage fine - got home tried to start and wouldn't start !
I have tried several times now and it only starts when engine is cold as soon as it gets past 90 on temp gauge will not fire up - just clicks. No car over Bank holiday and raring for an argument with garage on Tuesday !
Any advice, comments, as to what it could be ?
Dont need any advice as to what i shall be saying to garage on Tuesday - got that sorted! !!!
Cheers !

Hi Graham and welcome.
This fault is common for the starter motor. They break down when hot.
How is Guernsey nowdays?

Re: Starts cold but not when warm
Guernsey is great ! - apart from the garages - and this one was supposed to be good!
Cheers for confirming what I thought - I suspect garage took the easy option as I notice getting to the starter is not too straight forward.
Too make matters worse I asked them to change the oil & filter - it's a 1.6 with a capacity of 3 litres with filter change - and they charged me for 4 and the warning light is coming on saying there is too much oil in !
Wish I had brought my tools so i could do it myself!!
Don't you love em!

Starter is a pain to do as you suspect. Even disconnecting the wiring is akward. You can diy with a moderate tool kit and some patience. Just follow the battery disconnection method on this site.
Cheers Col.
